Season 3, Episode 009: Lethal for Lethal’s Sake

Greetings Gamers! This week we turn things over to our Cohort, Howard. He brings up a good idea about GM etiquette and being lethal to your players just because the system is a “Lethal System”. This boils down to us talking about GM Metagame Thinking. Most wouldn’t think this happens, or is even possible, but believe it or not, it happens more times then you think. Come join us and find out!

Episode Suggestion: creating your own system (Liz mentioned her d4, Chris & Tim are creating one) or modifying an existing one …

I completely agree with you guys on this (Howard’s Bro-in-law, btw). I am probably one of the exceptions to the rule. I love Shadowrun, and I’m running a game right now. While, yes, it is a lethal system, and it should feel like the characters could die at any time, my job is not to kill my players, because then I don’t have a game anymore. It is possible to make the characters fear for their lives without them risking actually getting killed all the time. Anyway, just wanted to add my view of things.
